I’m Tom, an SEO professional from London who’s recently moved to beautiful Cleveland OH with my wife.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have a varied career in SEO, both in terms of the work I’ve done and the companies I worked for. I honed my skills in a boutique agency before moving onto a global creative agency, then headed up an in-house SEO team for three years before deciding to take everything I learned on the way and start “Clear Eyes.”
Origins of Clear Eyes
The name “Clear Eyes Digital” comes from the hype slogan of one of my favorite TV shows, Friday Night Lights: Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose. I take “clear eyes” to mean looking at the bigger picture which is what I always try to do: I consider myself a marketer, and approach SEO from the perspective of “how is this going to tie-in and help with the company’s overall strategy?” as opposed to just “let’s increase some keyword rankings.”
I’m very familiar with SEO in the US. In fact, one of my proudest personal achievements was winning a US Search Award in 2021 for “Best Use of PR in a Search Campaign.” The Search Awards are kind of like the Oscars for us in SEO, and I beat out larger, full-service agencies with big campaign budgets in the category based on two fundamentals: graft, and authenticity. It’s a shame the awards were virtual because the awards ceremony in Vegas, where they’re usually held, would have been one hell of a night. Anyway, I digress.
